Specially designed features for mortar to adhere and form a mechanical key. When the mortar keys to the locks, each brick is permanantly locked to the metal pan. These brick keys also carry the weight of the brick and help align the mortar joints. The metal pan also provides a built-in weep system for secondary moisture and air control.
